An agreement was signed between the Export Promotion Agency of Uzbekistan and the British Institute for Export and International Trade

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in London organized negotiations between the Deputy Director of the Export Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, Toymas Yakubov, and the Director General of the British Institute of Export and International Trade (IEIT), Marco Forgone, “Dunyo” correspondent reports.

The parties discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of enhancing trade and economic relations and strengthening the potential for interaction.

As a result of the negotiations, a Memorandum of Cooperation between the two structures was signed, which provides for the organization of joint events, including trainings for Uzbek specialists and business missions aimed at promoting the export potential of Uzbekistan in the British market with an emphasis on textile and fruit and vegetable products. The agreements will also facilitate the exchange of information and experience in the field of supporting private entrepreneurship, medium and small businesses.

As Marco Forgone noted, IEIT supports large-scale economic reforms in Uzbekistan, and the British side intends to pay special attention to supporting Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, as well as organizing events for Uzbek exporters, including on benefits and preferences under the Expanded Generalized System of Preferences scheme (“GSP Enhanced Framework”) UK.

The parties also agreed to develop a plan of joint practical measures to implement the relevant points of the signed document.
