Uzbekistan – Bangladesh: new prospects for the development of bilateral relations

In Dhaka, a meeting was held between the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev and the Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Vazed.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects for intensifying Uzbek-Bangladeshi cooperation in a wide range of areas were considered. The parties stressed the priority given by the governments of the two countries to the further development of long-term and mutually beneficial relations.

In particular, joint actions were discussed to increase mutual trade, establish industrial cooperation and implement large high-tech projects in promising sectors of common interest.

Special attention was paid to measures to enhance cooperation in the fields of transport and tourism. The prospects of resuming direct flights along the Tashkent-Dhaka-Tashkent route were noted, which, in the opinion of the parties, will increase mutual passenger traffic and open up opportunities for cultural and tourist exchange. It was also agreed to hold a number of cultural events this year dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh.

Following the talks, the parties agreed on a set of practical measures to expand bilateral cooperation in the near future and expressed their readiness for active cooperation in solving the tasks set.
