Promising areas of cooperation between business circles of Uzbekistan and Pakistan were discussed in Islamabad

A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan with a delegation of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), headed by Muhammad Ishak, the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.

During the meeting, the head of SCCI, Muhammad Ishaq, highly appreciated the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the regional interconnectedness of Central and South Asia and confirmed his readiness to contribute to the development of bilateral economic and trade relations.

SCCI submitted a draft Memorandum of Cooperation with the Surkhandarya regional department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan for further consideration by the khokimiyat of Surkhandarya region and the CCI.

The meeting participants were provided with materials on the economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan, commercial proposals of Uzbek companies, clarified the creation and registration of joint ventures, provided information on tax and customs tariffs, and presented a presentation of the trans-Afghan railway project.

During the conversation, the parties also discussed topical issues for further increasing mutual trade and investment. In particular, the parties agreed to create a cooperation group with Uzbekistan (“Pakistan-Uzbekistan Cooperation Desk”) and an “online group” within the structure of SCCI for the prompt exchange of information on investment and commercial proposals.
