Negotiations with the CEO of Masdar were held in the UAE

Within the framework of the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sh. Wafayev to the UAE, negotiations were held with the CEO of Masdar, Muhammad Al Ramahi.

Recall that Masdar successfully implemented the project of the first 100 MW solar photovoltaic station in Uzbekistan, which was solemnly introduced in August 2021 in the Navoi region.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of the cooperation agenda, including the possibility of accelerating the implementation of large investment projects in the energy sector in Uzbekistan.

M. Al Ramahi informed that Masdar plans to start construction: in August 2022 – a 500 MW wind farm in Navoi region, and in December – photovoltaic stations with a total capacity of 897 MW in Surkhandarya, Jizak and Samarkand regions.

The implementation of these projects will help Uzbekistan achieve its goals of increasing the amount of electricity generated by solar and wind energy to 8 GW and bringing the share of alternative energy sources in the country’s total energy balance to 25 percent by 2026, which will reduce Uzbekistan’s energy dependence on gas and coal.
