Senate held a meeting with Algeria’s New Ambassador to Uzbekistan

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to Uzbekistan, Djamila Achour, the press service of the Senate reports.

The meeting focused on further strengthening friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Algeria, enhancing interparliamentary ties, and expanding political, trade and economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation.

It was noted that the two countries are linked by historical ties, shared values, and closely related cultures and traditions. Uzbekistan is interested in elevating its multifaceted cooperation with Algeria to a new level.

Particular attention was given to the development of interparliamentary cooperation. The importance of exchanging legislative experience, strengthening the activities of interparliamentary friendship groups, and further expanding practical dialogue between the parliaments of the two countries was emphasized.

The discussion also highlighted the prospects for consistently advancing cooperation within international organizations and expanding mutually beneficial collaboration in agriculture, the food industry, and industrial cooperation.

In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the importance of studying the heritage of Islamic civilization, developing ties between scientific and educational institutions, and organizing cultural days and art exhibitions in Tashkent and Algiers was underscored.

The parties also emphasized the importance of establishing cooperation and exchanging experience in further enhancing the role of women in society, ensuring gender equality, combating human trafficking, promoting sustainable development, and preventing corruption.

Representatives of the Algerian Parliament were invited to participate in the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which will be jointly organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Parliament of Uzbekistan in Samarkand on September 4–6, 2026.
