Negotiations were held between Uzbekistan and UNIDO on industrial development

A delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, including Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alisher Shukurov and Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Munira Aminova, held the bilateral consultations with the leadership of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) headquartered in Vienna, the press service of the MFA of Uzbekistan reports.

The meeting was attended by UNIDO Deputy Director General Mr. Ciyong ZOU, Executive Director for Innovation and Economic Transformation Mr. Gunther Beger, as well as senior officials responsible for agriculture, innovation financing, climate change, and regional operations.

These consultations provided a valuable platform to jointly review the ongoing technical cooperation portfolio.

The discussions focused on aligning future cooperation with the national development priorities of Uzbekistan, defining concrete pathways for collaboration and advancing a results-oriented partnership that delivers real impact.

UNIDO representatives underscored the significant progress achieved in Uzbekistan in the development of light industry, particularly the textile sector; the transformation of industrial zones into modern eco-industrial parks; and the restoration of the ecosystem and industrial capacity of the Aral Sea region.

Moreover, UNIDO conveyed its readiness to collaborate with foreign donor countries and financial institutions to develop and implement new projects in the fields of agribusiness, energy efficiency, digitalization, and decarbonization in Uzbekistan through innovative financial mechanisms.

It was noted that all ongoing initiatives are aimed at enhancing the industrial potential of the Republic, preparing sectors in ecological and technological aspects to attract foreign investment, and increasing Uzbekistan’s competitiveness in the global market.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a joint “Roadmap” to systematically advance bilateral cooperation between the Government of Uzbekistan and UNIDO. Additionally, arrangements were made to facilitate a forthcoming official visit of the UNIDO leadership to Uzbekistan.
