A Presidential Resolution “On measures to develop the mechanical engineering industry in the Samarkand region” (No. PP–145 dated April 20, 2026) has been adopted, the press service of the Ministry of Justice reports.
The main objectives of this resolution include:
- developing a mechanical engineering cluster in the Samarkand region, increasing the share of the mechanical engineering sector in the region’s industry to 15% by 2030, and raising the share of value added in industry to 40%;
- establishing production capacities within the mechanical engineering industrial zone created under this resolution to manufacture 10,000 units of commercial vehicles per year (trucks, buses, minibuses, pickups, and special-purpose vehicles, including electric vehicles).
A Mechanical Engineering Industrial Zone will be established on a 100-hectare land plot in the Kattakurgan district.
Only enterprises producing vehicles of categories N, M2, M3, O, and L, as well as their spare parts and components, may be registered in the zone.
The zone will be managed by the state institution “Directorate for the Management of Industrial Zones of the Samarkand Region.”
