Plans for expanding production and implementing new projects in the mining industry were considered

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on the priority tasks for 2026 and future development plans for the “Navoiyuran” enterprise and the “Uzbek Technological Metals Combine” joint-stock company, the press service of the head of our state reports.

Global demand for critical minerals and metals is currently growing rapidly. While demand for traditional metals is increasing by an average of 1 percent per year, the market for critical minerals is expanding at a rate of 10 percent. In light of this, large-scale efforts are underway in Uzbekistan to effectively utilize the existing mineral resource base, manufacture high value-added products, and boost export potential.

The presentation began with an overview of the operations and development plans of the “Uzbek Technological Metals Combine.” The combine is placing a special emphasis on establishing a complete technological chain—spanning geological exploration and extraction to ore beneficiation, deep processing of raw materials, and the production of finished goods.

By the end of this year, plans are in place to launch 12 investment projects, expand the range of localized products, and increase the production of high-purity selenium and tellurium.

The Head of State instructed that the implementation of promising projects in the critical minerals sector be accelerated. In addition to the five types of products already being produced (tungsten, molybdenum, selenium, tellurium, and rhenium), the production of 11 others—nickel, cobalt, graphite, antimony, tin, manganese, platinum, vanadium, mercury, and copper—is to be established. The importance of integrating scientific advancements into the industry and identifying additional mineral reserves was also emphasized.

According to the plans, the production volume for these 16 types of critical raw materials is projected to exceed 2.7 billion dollars by 2030.

Special attention has been given to major projects focused on the deep processing of tungsten. Plans for their implementation include attracting $1.1 billion in investment and increasing production volume to nearly $2.2 billion by 2030.

Proposals were also reviewed regarding the development of promising deposits rich in rare and rare-earth elements, the expansion of the enterprise’s resource base, and the acceleration of investment projects.

The presentation also covered the current operations and development plans of the “Navoiuran” enterprise.

It was noted that global demand for uranium raw materials has grown by 15–20 percent in recent years, with a further 28 percent increase projected by 2030.

Under these circumstances, it becomes particularly important to boost domestic uranium production, develop new deposits, enhance production efficiency, and ensure a stable supply of necessary resources for the uranium industry.

To this end, plans for the current year include expanding geological exploration and technological drilling, developing production infrastructure, commissioning additional sorption units, and creating 250 new jobs.

The supply of essential chemical reagents plays a key role in increasing the enterprise’s production volume. In this regard, measures were reported for strengthening cooperation among domestic industrial enterprises and increasing the supply of technical-grade sulfur, as well as sulfuric and nitric acids.

The President emphasized the need to expand the use of alternative technologies in production processes. Specifically, there is a target to ensure that, by 2030, 40 percent of the reagents used are substitutes for sulfuric acid. Overall, through the implementation of these measures and the development of new production capacities, the plan is to increase uranium output from 7,500 tonnes this year to 15,000 tonnes by 2030, while also bringing proven reserves to 200,000 tonnes.

At the conclusion of the presentation, instructions were issued to the relevant officials to ensure the timely execution of investment projects, strengthen the mineral resource base of the enterprises, launch new technological facilities, increase the production of high value-added goods, and expand exports.
