Issues of deepening multifaceted cooperation with China were discussed

On August 9 this year, under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev, a meeting was held to discuss the current state and issues of deepening multifaceted cooperation with the People’s Republic of China.

The meeting was attended by heads of ministries and departments, industry associations, commercial banks, local authorities, the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China.

The importance of taking comprehensive measures at the interdepartmental, intersectoral and interregional levels to expand cooperation with China, meaning the conclusion of new promising agreements and contracts, the implementation of joint mutually beneficial projects and the attraction of grant support from Chinese partners, was emphasized.

In particular, they discussed the prospects for the development of investment agreements and trade contracts in the areas of trade, economic, industrial and interregional cooperation, cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, pharmaceuticals, chemistry and petrochemistry, as well as partnerships in the automotive industry, mining, metallurgy, sericulture, cotton growing, agriculture and water management, health care, science, education and culture, production of textile products, leather products, building materials and other areas.

Also at the meeting, the progress of preparations for the 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People’s Republic of China, scheduled to be held in August this year, was considered. The reports of the heads of 7 subcommissions of the Intergovernmental Committee, ministries and departments were analyzed in a critical spirit. Clear instructions were given to prepare investment cases, documents and agreements as soon as possible, as well as specific proposals to expand cooperation in priority areas.

Following the results of the meeting, the responsible heads of ministries, departments and organizations were given additional instructions in the framework of the issues discussed and the tasks set.
