Opportunities for Spanish investment in Central Asia were discussed

The Embassy of our country in Spain, together with the University of San Pablo in Madrid, organized a round table on the topic “Opportunities for Spanish investment in Central Asia,” the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Spain, the regional representative office of Airbus, professors and experts from the University of San Pablo, as well as the ambassadors of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

The current state and prospects of trade, economic and investment relations between Spain and the countries of the region were discussed at the round table.

The representative of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Maria Peña Mateos, said that, despite the geopolitical instability of recent years, economic relations with Uzbekistan are developing successfully. The visit of Spanish Government Secretary Shiana Mendes to Tashkent in 2023 further strengthened cooperation, and the Spanish side views Uzbekistan as a potential partner in the fields of energy, transport, agriculture, water management and tourism.

Airbus representative Jose Luis de Miguel noted with pleasure that good relations have been established with Uzbekistan Airways and an agreement has been reached on the supply of 12 more A320neo aircraft to Uzbekistan.

In turn, the Ambassador of our country Farrukh Tursunov provided the conference participants with information about the economic potential of Uzbekistan, investment attractiveness, reforms implemented in recent years, as well as promising areas of Uzbek-Spanish relations and investment cooperation.

The information presented aroused great interest among the event participants, and a decision was made to regularly organize such discussions.
