Turkish business is interested in implementing projects in Uzbekistan

On October 28 this year, as part of the visit of the government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkey, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev received the head of the Turkish Housing Development Authority (TOKI) Omer Bulut and the heads of a number of large Turkish companies: Ahmet Cengiz (Jengiz Holding) , Hakki Akila (Çalık Holding), Juneyt Uygun (AKSA Enerji). During the talks, the progress of the implementation of current joint projects, as well as the prospects for the joint implementation of new investment initiatives, were discussed.

During the conversation with Omer Bulut, the effective mechanism of the social housing construction system used in Turkey was studied. The head of TOKI expressed his readiness to provide all necessary assistance in the implementation of Turkey’s best practices in Uzbekistan.

The implementation of projects in the energy sector of Uzbekistan was discussed with a member of the board of directors of Jengiz Holding Ahmet Cengiz. The company’s management highly appreciated the opportunities created in our country for foreign investors and expressed interest in the development and implementation of new promising projects in the chemical and mining industries, energy and construction.

The progress of the implementation of current projects worth $290 million was discussed with Aksa Enerji board member Juneyt Uygun. The Turkish side expressed interest in participating in the construction and modernization of power plants, gas distribution systems in a number of regions of Uzbekistan, as well as in the joint establishment of the production of electric generators and the construction of modern hotels in the historical cities of the country.

In a similar vein, there was a conversation with a member of the board of Çalık Holding, Hakki Akil. The company is implementing a project in Uzbekistan to build a diversified business center worth $250 million. An agreement was reached on the study and development of new projects in the field of renewable energy, as well as the construction and reconstruction of medical institutions in Uzbekistan on the basis of PPP.

As a result of the meetings, an agreement was reached on organizing visits of company representatives to Uzbekistan in November of this year for a detailed discussion and elaboration of financial and technical aspects of project implementation.
