Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are ready to build up multifaceted cooperation

On January 24 this year, in Bishkek, as part of the visit of the government delegation of Uzbekistan, the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Bakyt Torobaev and the Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev, the press service of the MIIT reported. The sides focus on topical issues of bilateral cooperation.

During the conversation with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Bakyt Torobaev, the importance of the upcoming state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan was emphasized, the results of which are expected to give a powerful impetus to deepening and expanding the strategic partnership between the two countries.

The work on preparation for holding a business forum with the participation of representatives of the business circles of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan was considered. The parties synchronized the list of investment agreements and trade contracts planned to be signed during the forum. The chemical and textile industries, mechanical engineering, the production of pharmaceuticals, leather and footwear products, building materials, electrical engineering, as well as energy, agriculture, transport, logistics and tourism have been designated as priority areas for cooperation.

There has been a consistent increase in the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries. Over the past 6 years, mutual trade has increased 8 times, reaching $1.3 billion in 2022. Readiness was expressed to take a number of specific practical measures to increase the figures to $2 billion in the near future.

At a meeting with the Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev, the possibilities of implementing large joint projects to organize the production of commercial vehicles and cars, build and expand spinning and textile enterprises, and produce building materials were considered.

An agreement was reached to assist entrepreneurs in concluding relevant contracts and agreements.

The parties also agreed on the joint implementation of investment projects in the field of agriculture, meaning the creation of intensive orchards and high-tech greenhouses in the territories of the two countries. For this purpose, the locations for the implementation of joint projects, as well as initiators through private enterprises of the two countries, will be determined within a week.

Separately, the preparation of the project for the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway was considered. An agreement was reached on signing a step-by-step “Roadmap” indicating the specific deadlines for the implementation of each stage of the project.

The prospects for the implementation of joint projects in the energy sector were discussed, bearing in mind the implementation of the project for the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1. An agreement was reached to speed up the adoption of the necessary documents and the development of technical and economic documentation.

At the end of the meetings, the parties agreed on a format for further interaction in order to accelerate the implementation of the discussed projects and initiatives.
