A briefing was held at the MIFT on the upcoming SCO Economic Forum in Tashkent

On August 12 this year, a briefing was held at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade on the holding of the SCO Economic Forum and Industrial Innovation Fair in Tashkent on August 16-17 this year.

The briefing was attended by representatives of local and foreign media, bloggers.

First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Aziz Voitov told journalists and bloggers about the importance of holding upcoming events in the light of both the regional and international economic agenda.

Within the framework of the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the SCO in August this year, several significant international events have already taken place, which made it possible to draw the attention of the world community to the most important issues of a regional nature. The Economic Forum is a logical continuation of the multi-vector foreign economic policy pursued by our country over the past few years and especially intensified this year in connection with the chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the SCO. The initiative to hold a Forum of this format in Tashkent was put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the SCO Summit in Moscow in 2020.

The main objectives of the Forum are to discuss the priority areas of trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as the prospects for economic development and practical cooperation in the SCO space, to demonstrate the investment potential of the Forum member states, to develop specific recommendations to ensure sustainable development and increase the potential of economic sectors.

The Forum will be attended by heads of state bodies, ministries responsible for foreign economic activity, as well as representatives of international organizations of the SCO states. Its rich program will include a plenary session and four panel sessions: “Priority investment projects of the SCO”, “Peculiarities of international cooperation and restoration of trade and economic ties”, “Trade and economic cooperation in the era of digitalization”, “Development of a green economy in the SCO space”. In addition, the SCO Industrial Innovation Fair will be launched for the guests, the purpose of which is to create conditions for the commercialization of innovative ideas, technologies and projects of the countries that are members of the Organization.

As a result of the briefing, Aziz Voitov once again invited media representatives to take an active part in the work of the Forum, expressing readiness to provide all kinds of information assistance in covering upcoming unique events of an international scale.
