The progress of the implementation of joint projects within the framework of bilateral financial and technical cooperation with the Republic of Korea was discussed

The Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT) hosted an annual dialogue to discuss financial and technical cooperation with the Republic of Korea, “Dunyo” correspondent reports.

According to the MIFT, representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as well as Eximbank, took part in the event from the South Korean side.

To date, work is underway to implement five projects in the field of healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and the chemical industry in the amount of more than 548 million US dollars, which are financed by long-term concessional loans from the Republic of Korea.

During the meeting, the current status of projects jointly implemented at the expense of preferential loans from the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund of the Eximbank of the Republic of Korea (EDCF) was considered.

In particular, further steps were discussed on priority projects for 2022: “Creation of a Medical Cluster” ($383 million), “Creation of research and educational components of the innovative research and production pharmaceutical cluster “Tashkent Pharma Park” ($198.6 million) .

The parties also discussed the possibility of simplifying the procedures preceding the signing of loan agreements, and identified new promising areas of cooperation, including the development of regional road and rail communications and the digitalization of the healthcare sector.

As a result of the dialogue, a list of promising projects for 2022-2024 was agreed, and specific measures were identified to accelerate their implementation.
