A meeting of ministers of industry of the SCO member states and the VIII meeting of the Council on Industrial Policy of the CIS member states was held in Tashkent under the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan

On July 15, 2022, in Tashkent, under the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the VIII meeting of the Council on Industrial Policy of the CIS member states and a meeting of industry ministers of the SCO member states were held.

The events were attended by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov, Minister of Heavy Industry of India Mahendra Nath Pandey, Deputy Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Marat Karabaev, Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev, Minister of Industry and Production Syed Murtaza Mahmud of Pakistan, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan Sherali Kabirov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan Saidkahkhor Kholkhuzhaev, Deputy Minister of Industry of Belarus Dimitry Kharitonchik, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Alexei Gruzdev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China Jiangping Wang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China Youxiang Ma (both online), SCO Deputy Secretary General Suhael Khan (video image) schenie) and Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Ilkhom Nematov.

The agenda included issues on further intensifying and building up interaction between the CIS and SCO member states in the interests of industrial development, ensuring sustainable growth in industrial production on the basis of cooperation, implementing joint investment projects, introducing new technologies, attracting material and financial resources, and increasing productivity labor and industrial diversification.

Also, the heads of delegations of the CIS and SCO countries exchanged views on topical issues of further cooperation in the field of industry, taking into account the geopolitical situation in the world and possible joint responses to emerging problems.

During the meetings, drafts of a number of important documents were considered, including:

  • draft Program of conceptual directions for the development of industrial cooperation between the CIS member states;
  • the draft Program for stimulating industrial cooperation between the business circles of the SCO member states;
  • draft Regulations on the organization of congress and exhibition events, in particular under the auspices of the Meeting of Industry Ministers of the SCO Member States;
  • draft Regulations on the creation of the “Data Bank of Investment Projects in the Industry of the SCO Member States”.
  • drafts of the Concept of Cooperation between the CIS Member States in the Energy Sector until 2035 and the Plan of Priority Actions for its Implementation.

In addition, the participants visited facilities that demonstrate the existing industrial potential and cooperative practice of Uzbekistan, and got acquainted with the production processes.

Following the results of the meetings, the participants decided to continue mutual cooperation in the field of industry.
