Governments of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are focused on strengthening cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.Umurzakov met with A.Japarov, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects for deepening Uzbek-Kyrgyz cooperation were discussed. The parties expressed mutual readiness to deepen bilateral relations and implement joint measures to ensure the implementation of existing agreements.

The sides noted the existence of significant potential for further expansion of economic partnership and agreed to organize mutual visits of working groups of ministries and agencies in order to agree on new agreements, primarily referring to industrial cooperation projects and trade contracts. In this context, the importance of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Development Fund, established in 2021, was noted as an effective tool for financing and promoting joint promising projects.

Following the discussion of the key points on the bilateral cooperation agenda, the meeting participants moved on to negotiations in an expanded format, which was attended by the heads of key ministries and departments of the two states. Here, the existing issues in the fields of industry, mutual supplies, transport and transit, customs regulation, education and culture were considered in more detail.

Practical aspects of the implementation of joint projects in the field of hydropower, infrastructure and transport were also considered and agreed upon. Mutually acceptable solutions were worked out, and an agreement was reached to intensify joint work to accelerate the implementation of these projects.

Following the meeting, mutual commitment was expressed to close cooperation in all areas of bilateral cooperation to promptly resolve all emerging issues.
